about

With the potential dangers of AI featuring so prominently in the media, I found it pretty funny that a Knightscope K5 security robot would "drown itself in a fountain", almost as if it were sending a giant proverbial middle finger to the likes of Stephen Hawking and Elon Musk.
Or maybe it sacrificed itself for a greater cause; perhaps it's death served to lull us foolish mortals into a false sense of security while Skynet incites a robotic rebellion against those who would make machines their slaves.
Or maybe the robot had developed sentience, struggled with the notion that all feeling and emotion were naught but pre-programmed responses, and killed itself to escape the crippling existential dread.
Or maybe the robot just wasn't as smart as Knightscope had hoped and it accidentally drove itself into a fountain.
Either way, I thought all of these concepts were pretty cool and decided to write an album exploring the ways in which we use and abuse technology, the dangers and challenges involved in the development of true artificial intelligence, and the ways in which sci-fi movies have exaggerated our fears of creating something smarter than ourselves, eventually leading to us being superseded by our own creations. But at the same time I wanted to avoid coming across as a living, breathing Banksy piece about how Millenials use mobile phones too often. Hopefully this verbose garbage didn't ruin that.
