Somewhat recently, I purchased a dream dictionary to help read into the dreams I was having. Dream analysis has always interested me, but with the idea to write an album about dreams in my mind I figured it would be interesting to delve into the meaning within the dreams I was to write about. Shortly after purchasing the book, I had a dream that clearly held some sort of meaning, and so I decided to include that dream on the album. At the beginning of the dream I was looking after two babies; a young girl and a slightly older boy. However, both of these babies were capable of fluent speech. My boss from work then turned up at my house and drove me to a place he called “the Medula Oblangata”, which was a winery. Most of the apparel team from work were at this winery, except for my friend Reidy. The babies begin talking and impressing my coworkers, but I realise I have to leave for work and let the babies stay at the winery.
At work, the store is practically overflowing with stock, and my manager is wearing a white tuxedo with a pink tie. Apparently, considering the state of the store I only have to work a single cart before calling it a day.
After work, I head to my friend Kelvin’s house, however he is receiving texts from his girlfriend to go and do something with her so it is apparent that my visit will be a short one. However, during this visit Kelvin’s brother comes up to me and calls me a deviant, and I question why this is. Apparently, it is because I use a different kind of GPS to him, which makes me “in every sense of the word, deviant”.
Upon hearing this, I am no longer in my body. Max is standing in a corner with a mirror behind him, and for some reason wearing a fedora. The walls turn red as I observe myself from afar, and Max lets out a frustrated grunting sound. The reflection in the mirror then turns to face outwards, revealing the mirror image to have black eyes. The view of this scene begins to zoom out, with Max seeming confused about Kelvin’s brothers words while the mirror image begins screaming silently and crying tears of blood. Words begin appearing on the walls around the mirror, written in white chalk, and the mirror image begins banging on the glass in an attempt to escape.
This horrifying scene quickly ends however, and suddenly I am in a car with Kelvin, who drops me off at a pub. Inside, a group of my friends are waiting, including the one who was absent from the Medula Oblangata, who does a huge fart that causes him to levitate momentarily.
We all order meals and begin discussing how fun the Medula Oblangata was, and then I woke up.
The mirror part of this dream is really the only reason I decided to include it on the album, as the experience of switching between nightmare and dream so quickly was pretty jarring.
