When I was a kid, I had an unshakable yet completely irrational fear of the plant that used to live just outside my bedroom door. I don’t know why, but that plant just used to scare me, and I would have nightmares all the time about it chasing me. Eventually, I asked my parents to move the plant away from my room, but even so the dreaded “cheese plant”, also known as the window leaf, would still haunt my dreams. Usually it would just slide along the ground and stop just in front of me and I would find myself paralysed, face to face with the one thing I feared most, that stupid god damn plant. But on one occasion the plant had an evil smiling face and the leaves moved around like tentacles. This song is about that time.
